Hitman baby, one more time

Timothy Olyphant has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Hitman. He will play Agent 47, a genetically engineered assassin who turns against his creators.

The film, produced by the prolific Luc Besson, is based on the popular video-game series of the same name. The story revolves around Agent 47, a genetically engineered gun-for hire, whose expert skills allow him to infiltrate anywhere and kill anyone. An impressive feat, considering his striking baldness and the conspicuous bar-code on the back of his neck.

Olyphant is best known for his role as Seth Bullock in TV drama Deadwood, but we’ll always remember his show-stealing performance as the two-sided pimp in the under-rated The Girl Next Door.

The actor has a busy year ahead of him; he is currently filming Live Free or Die Hard, in which he plays the villain to Bruce Willis’ iconic John McClane and he is due to appear as the romantic lead in Catch and Release, opposite Jennifer Garner

Vin Diesel was 20th Century Fox’s initial choice for the role of Agent 47, but reportedly turned it down to appear in Matthieu Kassovitz’s sci-fi actioner Babylon A.D. Just as well really, Olyphant is a good actor and Diesel….. isn’t.

Hitman is set to begin filming in March, despite the fact that the film is currently without a director. However, Fox are confident in the film’s success and seeing the franchise potential, have included a sequel clause in Olyphant’s contract.

Quote of the Day

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)

Bill:Pai Mei taught you the five point palm-exploding heart technique?
The Bride:Of course he did.
Bill:Why didn't you tell me?
The Bride:I don't know... because I'm a bad person.
Bill:No. You're not a bad person. You're a terrific person. You're my favorite person, but every once in a while, you can be a real cunt.
