To boldly go where ten films have gone before

JJ Abrams has a script for the eleventh Star Trek film, he has told Entertainment Weekly. The script is reportedly set around a young Kirk and Spock.

The MI:3 director and creator of Lost has confirmed that he has a script for the eleventh Star Trek outing and that it will engage both trekkies and people with lives alike.

“On the one hand, for people who love Star Trek, the fix that they will get will be really satisfying,” Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. “For people who’ve never seen it or know it vaguely, I think they will enjoy it equally, because the movie does not require you to know anything about Star Trek. I would actually prefer [that] people don’t know the series, because I feel like they will come to it with an open mind.”

Early reports indicated that Abrams’ script revolved around a young Kirk and Spock at the Starfleet Academy, but Abrams himself did not reveal any plot details.

However, William Shatner, in an interview with SciFi Wire, confirmed that the script is indeed based around a young Kirk. What’s more, Shatner said that they want him to be in it. “I met with J.J.,” Shatner said. “and they told me they would like me to be part of their film, but they have to write the role.”

Write the role? How about an ageing “star” who’ll do anything for a dollar? We lost all respect for Shatner after he returned for another dose of beauty pageant idiocy in Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous. But then regained it after the All-Bran ads. Nevertheless, Abrams is a talented individual, so this could be one to keep an eye on, for fans and skeptics alike.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)

Bill:Pai Mei taught you the five point palm-exploding heart technique?
The Bride:Of course he did.
Bill:Why didn't you tell me?
The Bride:I don't know... because I'm a bad person.
Bill:No. You're not a bad person. You're a terrific person. You're my favorite person, but every once in a while, you can be a real cunt.
