Super Bate-Man!

Jason Bateman is set to co-star alongside Will Smith in the upcoming superhero flick Tonight, He Comes, according to Production Weekly.

Bateman is best known for his three year stint as Michael Bluth on the unparalleled TV show Arrested Development. The show was a perfect showcase for his natural comic ability and proved that he deserves more than the pithy film roles he has tasted to date. Excluding, of course, his groundbreaking performance as a teenager who discovers too much hair where there was no hair before in Teen Wolf Too

In Tonight, He Comes, Smith plays a disillusioned, alcoholic superhero whose methods of saving people incur a questionable amount of collateral damage. Bateman plays a public relations consultant, who is saved by Smith and offers to improve his public image. But the drink-guzzling Smith is more interested in a romantic pursuit of Bateman’s wife, played by Charlize Theron.

The script, originally written by Vincent Ngo, has been bandied around Hollywood for nearly ten years and has since been redrafted by Vince Gilligan. It has been hailed as one of the best unproduced scripts in the land of glitz and plastic, which is odd considering how ridiculous the synopsis seems. Not to mention the stupid title.

Hopefully, Bateman can rival Smith’s on-screen charm and wit and land himself a lead film role that can better display his ability. Unless of course, this is that role. But there’s really not that much room for comedy in the world of public relations.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)

Bill:Pai Mei taught you the five point palm-exploding heart technique?
The Bride:Of course he did.
Bill:Why didn't you tell me?
The Bride:I don't know... because I'm a bad person.
Bill:No. You're not a bad person. You're a terrific person. You're my favorite person, but every once in a while, you can be a real cunt.
