The studio and producers of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan are being sued by two of the drunken college fraternity members who appeared in the film.

The two claim that they were duped by the film’s producers into drinking too much and subsequently embarrassed themselves on screen, reports Reuters.

The students say that before filming the scene they were brought to a drinking establishment to ‘loosen up’ and after a bout of heavy drinking were offered consent forms and reassured that the film would not be shown in the United States.

“Believing the film would not be viewed in the
United States and at the encouragement of (the filmmakers), plaintiffs engaged in behavior they otherwise would not have engaged in,” the lawsuit says.

Behaviour they otherwise would not have engaged in? So, these two upstanding young adults will have us believe that the film-makers encouraged them to express overtly sexist and racist remarks and they willingly agreed to adopt these extreme views on camera just because…… they were drunk? I can’t imagine saying that women are objects just because some guy with a camera in my face bought me a few drinks and told me to say so. It was clear in the scene that these guys were not acting or pretending, what they were saying was their own homegrown ignorance, freed from their boorish minds by the influence of alcohol.

Borat’s road trip across America serves to highlight the often hypocritical nature of the people of the so-called “free-world.” Perhaps it was ethically questionable to allow these people to socially humiliate themselves in front of the entire world, but if some idiot frat boy is saying that “women should be our slaves” and that minorities in
America “have all the power,” then maybe they deserve to be exposed for the human stain that they are. Frankly, they have nobody to blame but themselves. You can’t sue somebody after consenting to them filming you and acting like the idiot that you are. Borat in no way instilled his own racist or sexist views into these muppets, they did it themselves.

A spokesman for 20th Century Fox declined to comment, except to say “the lawsuit has no merit.” Too right.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)

Bill:Pai Mei taught you the five point palm-exploding heart technique?
The Bride:Of course he did.
Bill:Why didn't you tell me?
The Bride:I don't know... because I'm a bad person.
Bill:No. You're not a bad person. You're a terrific person. You're my favorite person, but every once in a while, you can be a real cunt.
